THE SAVINGS BANK CHARITABLE FOUNDATION & NEIGHBORS IN NEED

(Wakefield, MA) – Neighbors In Need was one of several local nonprofit organizations that received a financial award from The Savings Bank Charitable Foundation. The foundation, established in 1997 through an initial endowment of $550,000 from The Savings Bank, presented a total of $67,768 to 23 nonprofit organizations during the 28th distribution of funds. Over the past 28 years, the Foundation has made donations in excess of $1,017,847 to organizations in local communities.

The award was presented by The Savings Bank Charitable Foundation to Executive Director Lisa Smith.

According to the foundation, awards were granted based on a number of factors, including intended use of the funds by the organization and the organization’s status as a publicly supported charity. Organizations that received an award were located in the areas served by The Savings Bank, with a focus on those organizations serving the residents of Wakefield, Lynnfield, Andover, North Reading, and Methuen.

Neighbors In Need (NIN) will use the funds to support their critical food pantry mission. NIN has six open to the public mobile market style pantries and serves 1,600 Greater Lawrence families each week a bag of healthy groceries.

The Savings Bank has eight offices located in the communities of Wakefield, Lynnfield, Andover, Methuen and North Reading.
